Palaeobotany (from either a Greek words paleon = old and votany = plant) is the branch of paleontology dealing with a recovery & identification of plant remains from geological contexts, and their utilize in the reconstruction of retiring environments. It shares a bit of most common ground by having palynology (the learn of spores & pollen) & is significant in the reconstruction of prehistoric ecological systems, called paleoecology.
